Following 2006’s space-prog rock epic ‘Black Holes & Revelations’, Muse have crash landed back to earth with a ‘Resistance’. Delving into the odyssey of the ‘Resistance’, Muse have further maintained their futuristic, psychedelic style complemented by Bellamy’s amazing falsetto. Opening track ‘Uprising’ hears Dr Who pay a visit, whilst the vocal harmonies and guitar on ‘United States of Eurasia’ is Muse’s homage to Mr Freddie Mercury.

Muse have always flirted with classical music, thus the extravagant ending to the album is none other than a three part rock symphony, complete with a full orchestra. The ‘Exogenesis: Symphony’ is their most ambitious composition to date.  It has a beautiful passionate ending that is only so elegant, sharp and sophisticated. Lyrically, this album combines Bellamy’s love for conspiracy theories with his political views, as well as the theme of love and life. The diversity and large scale of this album definitely shows more of Muse’s capabilities and talents. They have been my favourite band for many years now and  ‘Resistance’ is a perfect example of British rock at its best.
