Birmingham may have just lost the bid as capital of culture, but even without that status Birmingham hosts one of the best free cultural events in the UK. The arts fest happens in mid September of every year with a range of different cultures coming together to celebrate in the form of art, music and dance.
From Ballet to belly dancers and poetry to punk rock, every aspect of diversity in Birmingham is celebrated. The 2009 event was brilliant with the chance to see big bands like athlete and Elliot Minor and a great ballet production of Swanlake complete with a grand fireworks finale. The event is situated all around the centre of Birmingham even a small production of “East is East” was performed in a local chip shop!
Arts Fest will be returning to the city from 10th – 12th of September and the theme this year will be Landscape and Heritage. A Visual and digital showcase this year alongside past favourites “Cassical Fanstasia” and “Kerrang Fest.”
…And the best thing about it its completely FREE! it’s one not to miss.
