Poems by Richard Adjetey Boi (19), West Bromwich

AM STILL STANDING.

Am still standing,
Standing after falling,
After the tears came the smile,
Take a look in my heart,
I’ve shed so many tears,
After all these years, I could still see the dark,
But it’s by his Grace, I no more have to look back,
Back into the past where I wish I could erase so many memories,
Like that time when I was terrified,
Even scared to talk because I was so horrified,
All I could feel was the heavy rain pouring in my world again and again and again,
When the tears came rushing down my eyes,
That’s when he turned to me and answered my cry,
Because he never looked away and said goodbye.

AM BLESSD

Looking at where I am now,
From where I was before,
Puts a smile on my face,
From the times they said I wasn’t going to succeed and be anything,
To the times they had me on my knees crawling alone with the bees,
Turned to a different direction to avoid seeing his face,
Looking at my own portrait brought back the pain,
So I am like God why,
Because I need to seek your face, I’m righteous so I need to live by your grace,
I’m humble so your blessing I need to taste.
Angels walk with! More or less
So I know that my father loves me! Regardless
